Indian Railway to start a Railway University in the country


                          Railway budget for 2014-15 proposed a new Railway University to augment education, research and skill development activities in Railway Sector. Sri.Sadananda Gowda, Minister for Railways announced this while presenting the Railway Budget for the year 2014-15 on 8th July 2014. The budget has given more emphasis to technology in tune with the development in information and communication technology. Budget also gives more thrust to technology enabled e learning for the children of Railway employees who are working at remote locations. Digital information System, WiFi services, station navigation, move to introduce paperless office, integrated computerization, etc are some of the initiatives proposed in this budget. Railway will start innovation incubation centres as part of summer internships for under graduate students and to implement innovations in the system. Budget had given more thrust to different areas like logistic management, warehousing, public private partnership, foreign direct investment and privatization. Temperature controlled grain storage and milk tankers will hasten export of fruits and vegetables and transport of milk and milk products respectively. These initiatives will strengthen the railway sector and create more employment opportunities in the country.
