KVASU’s academic council decided to strengthen integrity and quality standards of research programmes

14th meeting of the Academic Council of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University held at Headquarters, Pookode on 20th December 2014 decided to conduct convocation ceremony during the first week of March 2014.It has been decided to improve integrity and quality standards of PG/PhD programmes to prevent misconduct in research on practical and administrative dimensions. As part of controlling plagiarism it has been decided that all major advisors shall check the thesis text, for any traces of plagiarism and shall furnish a certificate in the prescribed format to this effect at the time of thesis submission. Softwares for detecting plagiarism in thesis and dissertations for detecting hoax in images, data and figures will be made use of. Researchers need to submit a soft copy of the PhD thesis to the UGC within a period of thirty days, for hosting the same in INFLIBNET, accessible to all institutions/Universities. Along with the degree, University will issue a provisional certificate certifying to the effect that Degree has been awarded in accordance with the provisions to the regulations of the UGC. In case of any allegations on plagiarism, an ad hoc committee formed will investigate into the issue maintaining the integrity, privacy and confidentiality of the same and report to the Vice Chancellor. All the theses approved by the University will be uploaded in the University web site, told Vice Chancellor Dr.B.Ashok. University will establish Schools of Zoonoses, Public Health and Pathobiology, Applied Animal Production and Biotechnology, Animal Nutrition & Feed Technology, New Media and Research and Bio energy and Farm Waste management during the current financial year. During 2016-17 University will start School of Farm animal production, School of Clinical Sciences, School of Para Clinical Sciences, School of Basic Sciences and School of Social Sciences.
University will establish a new Dairy Science college at Pookode, Waynad and increase the number BTech Dairy Science and Technology seats from 40 to 100 during the next financial year. As part of Technology enabled distance learning programmes School of New media and research will launch courses on Poultry entrepreneurship, Dairy entrepreneurship, IPR and legal issues and PGD in Embryology during the year 2015-16. Through this programme 300 additional students will be enrolled under Technology enabled mode. University will soon launch Student entrepreneurship portal and establish Technology Business incubation Centre in the campus. Moreover it has also proposed to confer Honorary Doctorate degrees to Dr.P.K.Warrier, Managing Trustee, Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal and Dr.Amrita Patel. Former Chairman, National Dairy Development Board upon confirmation from the Chancellor.
