Railway budget to promote digital and Make in India

The Railway Budget 2015-16 has given more emphasis to Technology, Sustainable security issues, welfare of passengers, safety, connectivity, technology and productivity. In tune with the advancements in the information and communication technology, the budget envisages ICT based deliverables in the era of globalization. Budget envisages increase in capacity through improving existing network, doubling, tripling, electrification and good governance. Improvement of services sector related to delivering sustainable experiments in customer concern has been given top priority in the budget. Budget proposals were in tune with the Government of India’s initiatives like make in India, swatch bharath, digital India and skill India. Without increasing the passenger fares the budget has been given enough thrust to long term development of Indian Railway.
Cleanliness, waste management and energy conservation were given due attention as part of sustainable development. Railway information portal will exhibit spectacular changes in the coming months with regard to multi lingual portal system, e commerce, integrated ticketing and technology. Passengers can order quality foods through online. All SMS based and mobile applications will be used for appropriate knowledge dissemination. Railway’s cargo Centre will hasten export of perishable agricultural products. Kissan travel card will facilitate farmers to travel at distant places. Green technology and energy conservation measures will position Indian Railway to the level of International standards. As part of Make in India, this budget envisages employment opportunities in different sectors. The Public private partnership will strengthen Micro, Small and Medium scale industries and foreign rail technology scheme will help to promote advances in technology including outsourcing. Malavya Chair at Banaras Hindu University will facilitate innovation and research in this sector. IT mission in Railway and Customer relation Management System will facilitate Indian railway to the new horizons of railway system of Developed nations. The proposal to generate 15000 jobs annually in the konkan Railway Corporation will facilitate engineering and diploma students to access skill oriented jobs in the Railway.
