Common Admission Test 2015 (CAT 2015), a pre-requisite for admission to various management programmes of Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) at Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bodh Gaya, Calcutta, Indore, Kashipur, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Sambalpur, Shillong, Sirmaur, Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur and Visakhapatnam, will be conducted as a digital or Computer Based Test (CBT), on 29th November, 2015, in two sessions.

EFPM programme is offered at IIM Kashipur and IIM Raipur. Separate advertisements will appear for the Fellow Programme of each institute as well as PGP-FABM of IIM Ahmedabad, PGPEM and PGPPM Programmes of IIM Bangalore, EPGP of IIM lndore, EFPM & EPGPM of IIM Kashipur, PGP-ABM & PGPSM of IIM Lucknow, PGPWE of IIM Raipur, PGDHRM of IIM Ranchi, EPGP of IIM Rohtak, PGPEX of RGIIM Shilong and PGPBM of IIM Tiruchirappalli.

Eligibility : Applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA)) or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the Bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree.

In case the candidates are awarded grades/ CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained the Bachelor’s degree. In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA, and multiplying the result with 100.

Those appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2016 from the Principal/ Registrar of his/her College/Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2016) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate. Prospective candidates must maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the selection process.

Age : There is no age restriction for taking the CAT exam.

Reservation :15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe candidates. 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the Non-creamy layer (NC-OBC). 3% seats are reserved for Differently Abled candidates.

Fees : The registration fees is Rs.1600/- for General and NC-OBC applicants and Rs.800/-for SC/ST/PWD/ DA candidates. An applicant needs to pay registration fees only once irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying for. The CAT exam fee is payable at the time of online registration via a valid Credit/Debit card or through online net banking facility. SC, ST and PWD (DA) candidates must upload a copy of their SC/ST/PWD (DA) certificates at the time of registration.

Registration: The registration window for CAT 2015 will open on 6th August, 2015 and will close on 20th September, 2015. The details about the registration process will be available on CAT 2015 website At the time of registration, the candidates have to select any four Test Cities as per their preference from the drop down menu. Candidates will be allotted one among the 4 preferred Cities in any one of the two sessions after the last date of registration. There are 136 test cities. The list of Test cities is available at

Admit Card : Applicants will be able to download the admit cards from 15th October, 2015 till their exam date.The details about the test sites spread across 136 test cities will be available on from 15th October, 2015 and the name of the Test Site will be indicated in the Admit Card.

CAT 2015 shall be conducted in two sessions. Two different Test Forms shall be administered in two Test Sessions. In order to ensure fairness and equity in comparison of performances of the candidates across different test sessions, the scores of the candidates shall be subjected to a process of Normalization. The Normalization process to be implemented shall adjust for location and scale differences of score distributions across different forms. After normalization across different forms the scores shall be further normalized across different sections and the scaled scores obtained by this process shall be converted into percentiles for purposes of shortlisting. For purposes of reporting, Scaled Scores for each section (Section I: Quantitative Ability, Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Section III: Verbal Ability) and Total along with the Percentiles shall be published.

CAT 2015 score : A candidate’s CAT 2015 score card will be made available at Individual information will not be sent. The CAT results will be declared by 2nd week of January, 2016. CAT 2015 score is valid till December 31, 2016. The candidates’ scores will be made available till December 31, 2016.

Admission Process : Each IIM shortlists candidates for its second stage of selection which may be different for each IIM. The process may include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). Performance in CAT 2015 examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process.
