Thousands enter the world of letters

Mathrubhumi Education Online

vidyarambhamKochi: Writing auspicious letters 'Hari Sree.....' on rice-filled brass platters, thousands of children entered the world of letters on Vijayadasami Day. Poets, scholars, teachers and priests were among those who helped the children write their first letters. They also ‘wrote’ a word on every child’s tongue with a gold ring. Apart from initiating into the world of letters, many tiny tots learned their first lessons in painting, music, dance and various other art forms on this auspicious day.

Elaborate arrangements were made in various parts of the city for Vidyarambham. Special poojas were conducted in all the temples. Cutting across the barriers of religion, caste and class, many participated in Vidyarambham functions. Apart from temples, educational institutions, cultural and literary organisations, churches also held Vidyarambham functions on the auspicious day of Vijayadasami, which marks the culmination of Navratri festival.

Special poojas were conducted in Kollur Mookambika Temple in Karnataka and thousands of people attended the Vidyarambham, which started today early morning. Elaborate arrangements were also made at various temples including Panchikadu Saraswati Temple near Kottayam, Thiruvullakkavu Temple, Thrissur and Dakshina Mookambika Temple, North Paravur for Vidyarambham.
