Kochi: Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has invited applications for the All India Common Entrance Test for Undergraduate (UG) Medical Courses, (PIMS-AICET-UG 2016) for selection of students to MBBS and BDS course run by the constituent colleges of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni.

There are 125 seats for MBBS at Rural Medical College, Loni and 100 seats for BDS, at Rural Dental College, Loni. 85% seats are reserved for the General Category for which the admission will be made on the basis of inter-se-merit of the candidates at PIMS-AICET- UG 2016. 

There are 15% seats reserved under NRI (Non Resident Indians) / PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) / FN (Foreign Nationals) Category. The merit of candidates seeking admission under this category will be decided by the PIMS University taking into consideration equivalence and recognition of the examination passed by the candidate at higher secondary level (XIIth year) and academic performance, considering the marks / grade obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) in the said examination. Candidates seeking admission under this category will have to apply separately to The Registrar, PIMS University.

Eligibility
Applicant must be an Indian National. The Nationality Certificate issued by the District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate /Chief Metropolitan Magistrate or a valid passport will be considered as a proof of Nationality.
 
Applicant must have been born on or before 31st December 1999.
Applicant must have passed any of the qualifying examinations as enumerated below. 
(i) The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to (10+2) Higher/Senior Secondary Examination which is conducted after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English as a core course
 
(ii) The Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognised examining body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology (which shall include practical test in these subjects) and also English as compulsory subject
 
(iii) The Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology & English after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or Pre University or an equivalent examination. The Pre-professional/Pre-medical examination shall include practical test in these subjects and also English as compulsory subject
 
(iv) The first year of the three years degree course of a University recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology including practical tests in these subjects, provided the examination is a University Examination and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English
 
(v) B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), provided that he/she has passed B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Bio-technology and further that he/ she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
(vi) Any other examination which in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology including practical tests in each of these subjects and English. For such qualification, the candidates are required to obtain equivalence certificate from AIU (Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi).

Those belonging to general category must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together at the qualifying examination. Those belonging to backward classes (SC, ST, VJNT & OBC) must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology taken together at qualifying examination. Applicants belonging to the backward class must attach a copy of the caste and caste validity certificate along with the application form. It should however be noted that there is no reservation for students belonging to Backward class. This certificate is required in support of relaxation of eligibility criteria.

Those who are appearing for qualifying examination in February/March 2016 are eligible to appear for PIMS-AICET-UG 2016. However they must fulfill the eligibility conditions at the time of counselling.

Those Qualified (10+2) under a foreign system in India, are required to obtain equivalence certificate from AIU (Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi). 

The Entrance Test will be held from 3 p.m to 6 p.m on 7th May, 2016 (Saturday) at Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Chandigarh, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Loni, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune.

The Entrance Examination will have one question paper of 3 hours duration containing 200 multiple choice questions (MCQs) with 50 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers. Scratching, overwriting, tick-marking and multiple answers will be considered as wrong answers and no marks will be awarded. ·

The entrance examination will be conducted based on the syllabus of Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology as specified in Annexure-F of the Prospectus that can be downloaded from http://pravara.com/pdf/aicetug2016.pdf.

The prospectus can be purchased from University Admissions office on payment of Rs. 500/-  or by  post from ‘Competent Authority, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni, Rahata Tal, Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra- 413736, on payment of the amount (add Rs.200/- towards postal charges) by way of DD, drawn in the name of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni payable at Pune.
 
The prospectus is also available at selected places in Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Nashik, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kochi & Delhi. The addresses of the Centres are available at http://pravara.com/ugadmission-sale.html. 

Applications can be submitted till April 1, 2016. The last date for receipt of application form with late fee of Rs 2000/- is April 7, 2016. 

The Entrance Test Fee is Rs.1,500/- . The fee is payable by demand draft in favour of ‘Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni’, drawn on any nationalized bank, payable at Pune-Service branch. The details of entrance examination fees paid must be filled in the application form. Applicants should write their full name, address and application form number on the reverse side of the demand draft. If candidate is using downloaded application form from the official website http://www.pravara.com, a Demand Draft of Rs.1,700/- should be enclosed. 

After last date for submission of Application form without fine, the amount to be remitted will include late fee of Rs. 2,000/-. Remittance to be made for applications submitted from 2nd April to 7th April 2016 for Printed application Form will be Rs.3500/- (Rs.1500/-+ Rs.2000/-) and for Downloaded application form will be Rs.3700/- (Rs.1700/- + Rs.2000/-). 

General Category candidates should not send any document/ testimonials along with application form. Applicants belonging to backward class / Reserve category should attach caste and caste verification certificate along with Application Form failing which Application Form will be treated as that of a candidate in general category. Those who have obtained qualification (10+2) under foreign system in India, should attach AIU equivalence certificate along with Application Form failing which Application Form will be rejected. Application forms should be sent by registered post or handed over to the Office of Competent Authority personally. The candidates are advised not to send the application form by courier service other than ‘Blue Dart’ courier. 

The filled applications will be accepted only at ‘The Office of the Competent Authority, PIMS-AICET-UG 2016, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni, Tal Rahata Tal, Ahmednagar Dist, Maharashtra-413736’. 

Hall Ticket will be distributed up to 09.04.2016. In case a candidate does not receive hall ticket by 21.04.2016, he/she should immediately contact to Designated Authority PIMs-AICET-UG 2016 by E-mail pimscet@pmtpims.org.

Applicants of the general category must secure minimum 50% marks in PIMS - AICET - UG 2016 to be eligible for admission to MBBS / BDS Courses. Those belonging to backward classes (SC/ST/NT & OBC) must secure minimum 40% marks in PIMS - AICET - UG 2016.

Results will be announced at 10 am on 1st June 2016 at http://www.pravara.com
Counselling will be from 21st June 2016 to 24th June 2016. Classes Commence on 1st August 2016.
Those appearing for PIMS-AICET-UG 2016 for M.B.B.S. & B.D.S. are also eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Nursing), B.P.T (Physiotherapy) and B.Sc. Biotechnology courses of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences.
