NATA 2017 is the popularly refereed name of National Aptitude Test in  Architecture. It is the test conducted to grant admission in B.Arch courses in various colleges of India.It is the National level Exam. NATA Exam 2017 is conducted by NIASA (NATA Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture) which is a body of council of Architecture. NATA 2017 Probably will be held in April to August 2017. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability that have been acquired over a long period of time, and that are related to specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.

 NATA 2017 Eligibility criteria:
Candidate should have passed their 10th standard or equivalent exam can apply .
Applicants should have Mathematics as their subject in the qualifying exam.
Candidates should have secured 50% aggregate marks with Mathematics one of the subject.
Candidates who have done 10+3 diploma with any stream from recognized board/university with an aggregate of 50% marks.

NATA 2017 Syllabus:
To the Candidates who are appearing for NATA 2017 are advised to go through the aspects to crack it easily.
Drawing Test:
The drawing aptitude is questioned on the following topics:
  • Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner,
  • Visualizing and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings,
  • Sense of perspective drawing,
  • Combining and composing given three dimensional elements to form a building or structural form,
  • Creating interesting two dimensional composition using given shapes and forms,
  • Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition,
  • Understanding of scale and proportions,
  •  Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences.
  • The questions will be asked from the following topics:
  • Visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings,
  • Visualizing different sides of three dimensional objects,
  • Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities,
  • Analytical reasoning,
  • Mental Ability,
  • Imaginative comprehension and expression and Architectural awareness.
Exam Pattern:
The NATA 2017 test will be conducted in two parts –
  1.  paper based drawing test and computer based online aesthetic sensitivity test. The test measures aptitude of the applicant through two sections –
  2. paper based section for drawing and computer based section for aesthetic sensitivity.
The DRAWING TEST is a two hour paper where the applicant has to attempt three questions.
The AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TEST is a computer based test where candidate has to answer 40 multiple choice questions.

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is conducted by the Council of Architecture (COA) for admission to first year of 5 year B.Arch Degree course at all recognized institutions all over the country. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability. This is a complete and comprehensive assesement of candidates for undergraduate education in architecture. Admission to all architecture colleges (including government, government-aided, private unaided, university department, deemed universities) in India is done on the basis of NATA score.

NATA 2017 Eligibility:-

Any person having passed SSC (Std X) or equivalent examination and above can appear for NATA. However, only candidates who have qualified an aptitude test in Architecture and have secured 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects, shall be eligible for admission to B.Arch. Course. No direct lateral admission is allowed at any year/stage of B.Arch. course based on any qualification. NATA score shall be valid for a period of two years from the year in which one appeared.
