ULCCS aims to develop Centre of Excellence in School education


 Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society’s (ULCCS) new initiative UL Education will facilitate integrated development of Schools in the State. The objective is to create Centre of Excellence in Education. Says Sri. Rameshan Paleri, Chairman, ULCCS. ULCCS is trying to promote employability of students and to facilitate world class education facilities in the State. Moreover ULCCS will implement twinning programmes with overseas institutions of repute in the State. As part of the project Madappally schools of Kozhikode district were identified for the pilot project. The projects will be implemented in Madappally Boys and girls High schools, higher secondary schools and Vocational Higher secondary school. A consultative workshop with teachers and PTA was held at Madappally on 21st September 2017.ULCCS will facilitate to implement the project with the funding support from State and Central Government, British council, Cambridge English, local self governments, etc. Chairman added.

The project envisages to concentrate on implementing appropriate interventions in communication, English proficiency, logical and analytical skills, teachers training, library and informatics, environmental issues, water conservation, palliative care, athletics, sports, general knowledge, content or subject based issues, sanitation and waste management , identification of interests, aptitude for selection of courses, decision making and entrance examinations. British council and Cambridge English will be involved to train teachers on English communication and improving the English proficiency of students. Parents will be given orientation towards decision making, educational awareness and career guidance programmes. The programme will promote skill development, student entrepreneurship and start-ups.
The programme will facilitate to implement training programme for the teachers under TOT mode. ULCCS will scale up this project across the state after completion of the pilot project. This will be initially extended towards Kozhikode district and then towards the State. Says Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan, Director, UL education. Students of primary, upper primary, high school, higher secondary and vocational schools will benefit through this project. ULCCS will sign MoU with British council, Cambridge English and British Deputy High Commission for implementing the project. Infrastructure development projects will be implemented with the assistance from District, Block and Grama panchayats in the respective schools.
