IIIC will offer innovative Skill development programmmes


 Indian institute of infrastructure and construction, Chavara at Kollam  IIIC to be inaugurated tomorrow by the Chief Minister of the State will be Asia's largest institute in the areas of construction and infrastructure. Courses were planned in such a way that 80 percent wrightage will be given to technical and soft skills including on job training. Students with any qualification can join for the customised programmmes. Gradually they will get the option to become an engineering graduate. Taking in to account the services as the biggest domain in infrastructure and construction, courses like construction management, plumbing engineering, HVAC, Safety engineering, green construction, urban planning & infratructure, facilities management and entrepreneurship were given more importance. Proposed collaboration with Glasgow kelwin college and University West of Scotland will position institute as one of the Skilling institutes of global standards. Since global career depends on English proficiency, collaboration with British council and Cambridge English will facilitate to reduce the skill gap in communication and English proficiency.
Collaboration of Indian institutes of repute like IITs, National Academy of construction, etc will facilitate to aquire appropriate skills required for construction, infrastructure, IT, ITeS and services sector skills.
Industry interphase through collaboration with institutions like CREDAI, CII and leading industries will position the institute's placements to aquire spectacular growth. One of the flagship programmes of the institute like graduateship programme for engineering graduates will facilitate to improve the employabity of BTech graduates since the employabity among BTech graduates are only 17 percent in the country according to NASSCOM and ASSOCHAM studies. Graduate ship programme will have on job training in module, industry interface, customised Skilling, soft skill development, twinning programme with an institution of repute within the country or abroad along the opportunities for successful placement within the country or abroad. Moreover ITI and Diploma hdets and B.Tech students will get the opportunities for campus internships and onjo. Training programmes. Existing technical staff and workers will have appropriate upskilling programmes of short duration in the institute. Moreover IIIC will provide coaching for graduate level aptitude tests like GATE, CAT, GMAT, GRE, TOEFL and IELTS. Basic objective of IIIC is to reduce the skill gap of unemployed youth and to improve their employabity through facilitating appropriate placement options.
