IIIC all set to launch the skill development courses

                 Classes for the first batch of students will begin at Indian Institute of Infrastructure & Construction at Chavara, Kollam on 1st October 2018. It is an initiative of Kerala Academy for skills excellence under Department of Labour, Govt of Kerala and ULCCS Ltd. During the 1st phase there will be three technician level courses, one supervisory level course and three managerial courses. Courses include Diploma in Painting, steel fixing & bar bending, housekeeping, plumbing engineering and Post graduate diploma programme in Advanced Construction management, urban planning and architecture and graduate ship programme for Civil engineering graduates. Institute will facilitate to provide appropriate placement opportunities to the students. Says Rameshan Paleri, Chairman ULCCS ltd.

During the first phase there will be around 300 students in the campus. By the end of 2018 the number of students will exceed 600. By 2019 June there will be around 1000 students in the campus.  During the second phase, Institute will offer Graduate ship programme for all B.Tech graduates along with advanced courses in IT and data science. Courses include Graduate ship in Mechanical, Electrical& Electronics, IT and Computer science, PGD in Analytics, Internet of things, Block chain technology, data science, entrepreneurship, safety in Oil and petroleum, advanced electrician, e commerce, ITeS, HVAC engineering, Pipe engineering, automobile design, etc. All these programmes are aimed at improving the employability of engineering graduates and unemployed youths. There will be managerial courses for science graduates, diploma, ITI certificate holders and those who completed Plus two and SSLC. Vibrant Industry academia interface, cutting edge technology, placement opportunities, collaboration with institutions of repute within the country and abroad, residential programme, etc are some of the major advantages of institute’s academic programme. The campus will provide appropriate security measures including biometric system, fully Wi-Fi campus under plastic free and no smoking campus ecosystem. Students will get the opportunity to improve their learning process with advanced computer laboratory and digital and physical libraries. All faculties are with more than five years of experience in industry and teaching. National Academy of Construction, Hyderabad is providing technical collaborations for the academic programme including orientation programme for technical staff. Institute will work with government departments and public sector undertakings to offer up skilling programme for technical staff, appropriate courses for engineering drop out students, continuous training programme for workers along with appropriate skilling initiative coming under skill India programmes. All the programmes will facilitate to provide maximum exposure to skill development and industry interface along with internships. There will be an orientation programme for the newly admitted students and their parents on 1st October 2018. Admission for the selected candidates based on merit will be held on 25th and 26th September 2018.
